About Us
Weir Wood Reservoir has a rich history of dinghy sailing dating back to the 1960's. In 2024 the Weir Wood Sailing Club decided to close it's doors, those of us that ran the RYA training centre within the sailing club decided to keep the tradition of excellent training and racing at Weir Wood alive by forming Weir Wood Sailing Centre.
We are not the only people operating at Weir Wood Reservoir, we have groups of rowers, paddlers and open water swimmers to mention just a few. We all work together with Weir Wood Sport and Leisure, our site operator, to ensure that all activities are conducted safely and this magnificent resource us used sensitively.
We also have strong links with our neighbour Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre, a local, independent and trusted operator at Blackland Farm for the last 35 years, having since taken over the full operation of the site after a successful purchase from Girlguiding in April 2024.
Community is at the heart of what we do at Weir Wood Sailing Centre, and the sailing community at Weir Wood Reservoir remains strong, with a strong group of sailors who enjoy Racing, cruising and all the social aspect that come with our great sport.

Royal Yachting Association
Set up in 1875 as the Yacht Racing Association, the RYA has since become the national governing body for dinghy, motor and sail cruising, all forms of sail racing, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing and personal watercraft and a leading representative body for inland waterways cruising.
East Grinstead Sea Cadets
Sea Cadets is a national youth charity, offering a different kind of adventure for 10 to 18 year olds, helping them to launch well in life today. Our local Sea Cadet unit is very active at the reservoir and reguarly supports to activities of Weir Wood Sailing Centre.
